APPRECIATING GOD

REV BENSON CHARGES BELIEVERS TO APPRECIATE GOD

Rev. O. T. Benson charged the Church to always appreciate God. The Bible reading was taken from Luke 17: 11 – 19. The texts of emphasis were verses 15 – 19. The Superintendent commenced the sermon by defining appreciation as the act of estimating the qualities of things and giving them their proper value. It is also a thankful recognition.

He pointed out that Christians’ lack of appreciating God is due to their lack of consciousness of what people are passing through. This tendency of ingratitude, as noted by the man of God, is a major reason for stagnation. If someone does not thank God for where God has brought him to, he will not get to the destination God plans for him.

Also, the Reverend noted that appreciation gives us a platform to receive greater blessings from God; it indicates that we value the blessings of God which prompts us to receive a glorious future.

He concluded the sermon by charging believers to be like the Samaritan that was healed of his leprosy by Jesus, and always return to give thanks to God.

DIVINE HELP

REV O. T. BENSON EXHORTS THE CHURCH ON THE NEED FOR DIVINE HELP

                   The Superintendent, Rev O. T. Benson, gave a sermon titled “Divine Help” during the first Sunday Service of the month. The Bible Reading was taken from Psalms 121:1 – 2. The text of emphasis was verse 2. The man of God began the sermon by urging Christians to be steadfast in prayers as it is the only way man can communicate with God. In defining divine help, the Cleric stated that it means to alleviate the burden of someone by giving assistance to the person to go in a specific direction.

          The Minister also noted that the way a believer can access divine help is by trusting in God and approaching Him in prayers with total dependency on God alone. Another important point admonished by the Minister was that a believer must be very careful of where one seeks for help.

          The highlight of the sermon was the exposition of the gloriousness of divine help. They are:

  • The help that makes you a wonder to many (Jonah 9:8 – 9);
  • It is a help that put your enemies into confusion;
  • It is a help that puts an end to fruitless efforts;
  • It removes all limitations from every aspect of your life;
  • It is a help that gives healing from longtime sicknesses;
  • It is a help that handles all forms of impossibilities.

To conclude the sermon, the Minister urged the Church to constantly seek divine help in all aspects of life.
