A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE SERMON MINISTERED BY ELDER (ARC.) OKON OBOT ON THE TOPIC “DILIGENCE” DURING THE 4TH SUNDAY SERVICE IN MAY.
The Minister began by defining diligence based on the dictionary and the bible. He then summarized the meaning of diligence as doing all that you do with awareness that God is with you always and continuously watching over you (Psalms 3:5) not only when you are asleep, awake, working, walking, indeed always as long as you breath. The Bible Reading was taken from Ephesians 6:7 and Psalms 3:5.
The Minister went further to define man as a person who executes diligence. He stated that when a believer understands this, he can close the door to the devil by renewing his mind – soul – and keeping his body – his flesh under the dominion of his recreated (born again) spirit.
Biblical characters such as Joseph, Job, Elisha and Paul were pointed out as diligent examples. In conclusion, the Congregation was charged to use the word of God at all times which is a useful guide to living a life of diligence.
