DILIGENCE

A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE SERMON MINISTERED BY ELDER (ARC.) OKON OBOT ON THE TOPIC “DILIGENCE” DURING THE 4TH SUNDAY SERVICE IN MAY.

The Minister began by defining diligence based on the dictionary and the bible. He then summarized the meaning of diligence as doing all that you do with awareness that God is with you always and continuously watching over you (Psalms 3:5) not only when you are asleep, awake, working, walking, indeed always as long as you breath. The Bible Reading was taken from Ephesians 6:7 and Psalms 3:5.

The Minister went further to define man as a person who executes diligence. He stated that when a believer understands this, he can close the door to the devil by renewing his mind – soul – and keeping his body – his flesh under the dominion of his recreated (born again) spirit.

Biblical characters such as Joseph, Job, Elisha and Paul were pointed out as diligent examples. In conclusion, the Congregation was charged to use the word of God at all times which is a useful guide to living a life of diligence.

THE BELIEVERS’ INHERITANCE IN THE NEW COVENANT

A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE SERMON MINISTERED BY ELDER (DR.) GODWIN BASSEY ON THE TOPIC “THE BELIEVERS’ INHERITANCE IN THE NEW COVENANT” DURING THE SECOND QUARTER COMMUNION SERVICE.

The Minister began by admonishing the congregation to understand the reasons why they are partaking in the Holy Communion. The Bible Reading which was taken from Hebrews 8:1-3 revealed God’s plan of writing His new covenant on our hearts rather than on tablets.

Elder Godwin Bassey also made it known that as believers, we are operating under the new covenant in which Jesus is at the center. Further, the first miracle of God in a believer’s life as noted by the Minister is God releasing his grace upon us through the blood of Jesus Christ and whosoever is in Christ is a new creature (2nd Corinthians 5:17).

In conclusion, the Minister encouraged Christians to accept Jesus Christ and acknowledge the price He paid for us in order for us to live fulfilled lives and have eternal life; trusting in God at all times and being steadfast.
