ELDER (BARR.) GABRIEL ETUK PRESENTS A SERMON ON GOODNESS DURING THE SUNDAY SERVICE ON FEBRUARY 14, 2021
Elder (Barr.) Gabriel Etuk gave an exposition on “Growing in Goodness.” The Bible reading was taken from Luke 10:30-35, while the text was Philippians 4:8. The cleric gave a definition of a person with goodness as “a person who is filled with Christ and has the nature of God in him.”
He went further to note that there are practical ways to show goodness as can be seen in James 2:15-16 and 1John 3:17-19. Thus it can be deduced from the referenced scriptures that growing in goodness has to do with showing love to people around us and treating them as ourselves; this can be done by lending help to our brothers and sisters in need.
Also, in the course of the sermon, the man of God cited that we can only grow in goodness by reading the word of God consistently and at all times. When we do this, we communicate with God and hear from him. He emphasized that reading the Bible draws us closer to God, thereby granting us His good nature.
The Elder added that it is important for Christians to grow in goodness, because it is in accordance with God’s commandments. He rounded off the sermon by admonishing the congregation to grow in goodness as it brings the blessings of God in abundance.
